Success Starts Here..
“From the moment you enter your school’s or college’s site each morning – you are teaching. Even if you stand still, you are a role model transmitting subconscious, indirect and informal ‘lessons’….”
“… Your starting point is those you are managing and leading:
your colleagues (senior managers, teaching and support staff)
the significant ‘others’ from outside the school (parents, community members, governors, trustees, board members)
All these have expectations of you, to which you need to respond. You also have expectations of yourself to which you will want to match up.”
Angela Thody, Teacher’s Survival Guide 2nd Edition
I honestly like the way she said “From the moment you enter your school’s or college’s site each morning – you are teaching. Even if you stand still, you are a role model..”. Nowadays, people have great expectations on teachers. I will be expected to know about anything from the students point of view. Hence, looking confident and looking as if I care about what I do and how I do it are the basic essentials which reinforce good teaching and effective class leadership (A. Thody, 2005).
I wonder how would it be during my first day of work next Tuesday the 20th July 2010…
